Why are high-quality BAS graphics extremely important for operators and facility managers?

November 18, 2025

  1.  Custom System Graphics
    • They develop detailed BAS system graphics (backgrounds, piping, HVAC components) that integrate directly into automation platforms.
    • Their graphics team includes mechanical engineers, drafters, and designers who deeply understand building systems.
    • They support “point implementation” — i.e., they bind graphics to data-points in BAS systems.
  2. Symbol Libraries (2D / 3D)
    • Vector or v5 Symbol Library: Pre-built symbol sets for BAS, enabling cleaner, scalable, and consistent graphics across projects.
    • 3D Equipment Library: Realistic 3D models of HVAC equipment (chillers, boilers, AHUs, pumps, etc.).
    • The symbol library includes both static and animated graphics for a wide variety of HVAC components.
  3. 3D HVAC / 3D Room System Design
    • They create sophisticated 3D models for HVAC systems that go beyond simple icons — showing detailed cut-aways, internal mechanical structure, and animations (e.g., compressor cycles, fans).
    • These 3D images help operators and managers to better visualize their physical systems inside the BAS interface.
    • They also do 3D design of entire room systems if the installation involves multiple mechanical systems in one space.
  4. Floor Plan & Site Map Graphics
    • Custom 2D or 3D floor plan graphics to show building layouts, equipment placement, ducting, and control points.
    • Site maps / landscape graphics for buildings, helping visualize building context, location of units, and how systems tie together
  5. Video / Animation / Motion Graphics
    • Animated videos, motion graphics, and 3D visualizations to communicate how the HVAC or BAS system works.
    • These are useful for training, marketing, or explaining system behavior to stakeholders.
  6. Symbol Binding & Integration
    • They don’t just supply graphics: they can “bind” graphic elements to real control system points (via live database) so the visualization is dynamic.
    • For Niagara systems (like Niagara 4), they create .jar symbol libraries that can be directly imported.
    • They support both “offline” graphic development (using backups) and live integration (via VPN).
  7. System Support Across Multiple BAS Platforms
    • They work with almost all major BAS platforms: Johnson Controls (Metasys UI, GGT, Facility Explorer), Tridium (Niagara AX & N4), Schneider Electric (StruxureWare), and more.
    • Their experience with multiple platforms helps them make graphics that are compatible with different control ecosystems
  8. Training & Documentation
    • QA Graphics also provides training videos for system integrators that show how to develop graphics, use their symbol library, and integrate with BAS software.
    • They also maintain support resources and user guides so integrators can use their libraries effectively.
  9. Energy & Education Dashboards
    • Apart from system graphics, they design energy dashboards (educational dashboards) that can be used to visualize building performance and sustainability metrics.
    • These dashboards are useful for facility managers, building occupants, and educational purposes.
